    1. Tamil Nadu Assembly elections | Elaborate security arrangements for polling day

    The police have made elaborate security arrangements for polling on April 6, with more than 9,000 police personnel being deployed in Cuddalore, Villupuram and Kallakurichi district.

    2. Puducherry Assembly polls | Long queues seen outside polling booths

    Puducherry and its outlying regions of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam go to Assembly polls on April 6 in a single phase to elect new governments.

    In the Union Territory where the Narayanasamy government was pulled down in February, voters would choose essentially between the fronts led by the Congress and the All India N.R. Congress.

    3. Kerala set for Assembly polls | Police, CAPF deployed in full force

    After weeks-long stormy campaign sessions, marathon rallies and mammoth roadshows, Kerala is all set to go to polls on Tuesday with 2.74 crore voters exercising their franchise to decide the fate of 957 candidates including high-profile leaders and independents in 140 Assembly constituencies across the state.

    A three-cornered battle is on the cards in 31 assembly seats that are set to go to polls on Tuesday in the third phase of Bengal elections, with the BJP seeking to breach TMC fortresses, and Left Front-ISF-Congress alliance hoping to make a mark in areas, where identity politics has gained ground. Election Commission imposes Section 144 of CrPC in all 31 West Bengal assembly constituencies going to polls on Tuesday.

    6. Lavrov-Jaishankar hold talks

    An important round of discussion between India and Russia will take place on Tuesday between the visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Mr. Lavrov who will be accompanied by Moscow’s Special Envoy on Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov is expected to brief the Indian side about the Russian plans regarding the difficult peace process underway in Afghanistan.

    A CBI team will reach Mumbai on Tuesday to start the process of initiating a preliminary enquiry against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh who resigned after the Bombay High Court directed the agency to probe allegations of corruption levelled against him by former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh.

    8. Vardhan to hold meet with health ministers of 11 states witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases

    Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan will on Tuesday hold a meeting with health ministers of 11 states and Union Territories, which have been witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases, to review the situation there. These 11 states are Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

    9. One-third of vaccination sites in all Delhi govt hospitals to run round-the-clock

    Seeking to accelerate the pace of vaccination against COVID-19, authorities ordered that one-third of inoculation sites at all Delhi government hospitals will run round-the-clock. The vaccination sites at present operate from 9 am to 9 pm.
