1. PM Modi to meet Chief Ministers to discuss COVID-19 measures today

Sources said the meeting, via video conference, was necessitated as India’s COVID-19 tally has seen an upward surge with the three states of Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab accounting for 75% new cases.

2. MP: Night curfew in Bhopal, Indore from today

In view of a surge in coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh, the state government announced night curfew in Bhopal and Indore city areas from Wednesday, an official said. Besides, shops will remain closed after 10 pm in eight other cities, he said.

3. Sadananda Gowda to inaugurate 11th edition of India Chem-2021 today

“India Chem is one of the largest composite events of the chemical and petrochemical sector in the Asia-Pacific region Deptartment of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, in association with FICCI, is organising the 11 edition of India-Chem 2021 during March 17-19 in New Delhi,” read a release by the Ministry

4. Indian women to play for pride in 5th ODI against SA women

The series already out of their grasp, the Indian women cricketers, who are struggling to put together a cohesive team show, will have pride at stake when they clash with South Africa women in the fifth and final One-day International on Wednesday. Barring the convincing nine-wicket win in the second match, the Indian women have barely fired in unison while the South Africans, who have already clinched the series 3-1, have excelled as a team.

5. Sindhu and Co. chase elusive title at All England Championships

World champion P V Sindhu will look to shrug off her demoralising Swiss Open final defeat and take advantage of a depleted field when she spearheads India’s challenge at the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships, beginning here on Wednesday. Sindhu looked a pale shadow of herself in her defeat against Carolina Marin, going down without much fight as she struggled to contain errors.

6. Road Safety World Series: WI defeat England to set semis clash with India

Brian Lara’s West Indies Legends entered into the semifinals of the Road Safety World Series T20 by beating Kevin Pieterson’s England Legends by five wickets at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on Tuesday. They will meet league leaders India Legends in the last four stage game today evening.

The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 1,14,37,855 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 1,61,548.
