1. Expect national plan from Centre on supply of oxygen, drugs for COVID-19 patients: SC A Bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde issued a notice to the Centre for Friday and sought a “national plan” on issues including supply of oxygen and essential drugs for treatment of patients infected with the virus. The SCBA, meanwhile, moved the SC, saying High Courts are best suited to deal with COVID-19 issues at local levels. 2. SC agrees to hear Vedanta plea of free oxygen supply The Supreme Court termed the COVID-19 situation as almost a “national emergency” while agreeing to hear Vedanta’s plea for opening of its Sterlite copper unit at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu on the ground that it would produce thousand tonnes of oxygen and give it free of charge to treat patients. “We will hear (plea of Vedanta) on Friday,” the Bench said in the hearing conducted through video conferencing. 3. Protocol for psychological rehabilitation of COVID patients to be released today The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous body of the Ministry of Ayush, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru and the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) have come together to develop a protocol for the psychosocial rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients. 4. Five municipal councils to go for polls in Goa Election for five municipal councils in Goa would be held on Friday with 402 candidates in the fray. The State Election Commission will hold elections for Mapusa, Margao, Mormugao, Sanguem and Quepem municipal councils. Results of the polls will be announced on April 26. 5.
